Unfortunately, the spread of the Corona virus is continuously increasing, which leads to several issues in relation to our domestic and cross border services.
We have noticed that the situation overall in Europe and in particular in some countries is becoming confusing and unclear. The situation might get worse. Specific industries are particularly affected, e.g. public sectors, schools, universities, restaurants, etc. Those sectors are unable to receive shipments. Some chain stores decided themselves to close until further notice. In some countries, as Luxembourg and France, non-essential shops have been forced to close by governmental decision.
Even in those difficult times, we are here for our customers and we are proud to inform you that most of our depots, hubs and agencies are still operational. In Belgium, all of them are up and running. We do our very best to continue to serve you as well as possible.
To augment the chances of successful deliveries, please make sure to check with your customer, before sending any shipments, that they are open to accept goods. If the delivery attempt is unsuccessful, we will have to send the shipment back to you at your cost.
Please take into consideration that there might be some delays at the borders, due to health checks.
operational information online, e.g. the countries, zip codes where deliveries are not possible.
In order to support the health & safety of customers and drivers, as well as to minimise the risks of spreading the COVID-19, GLS has implemented an interim process whereby drivers can make deliveries without a signature on the hand scanner as part of the proof of delivery. Some countries will offer the consignee to sign a delivery paper, others will write down the full name of the consignee on the scanner. Both processes will still capture a full name, time and date of delivery. The proof of delivery will be added to our IT system, linked to the shipment so that you can visualize it in your Track&Trace.
You can also read on our website all the measures taken to protect our drivers and consignees’ health.
We also kindly ask you to check the status of your shipments via our Track&Trace. If you have other questions, please opt to send us a mail at email@example.com.
We are convinced you understand the measures put into place and thank you for your cooperation.
